Ladies, Perhaps Your Credibility Gap Lies With The Enemy Within?

Whenever I encounter an unapolgetic Kamala Harris supporter more often than not it’s someone who by all accounts has upstanding moral values, often happily married or otherwise content in being unattached.  And still more often than not if that supporter happens to be female, they typically will throw in several uncomplimentary observations about men, particularly those who are supporting her opponent.

Look, I don’t think for a nanosecond that misognyistic behavior in any way, shape or form is justifiable.  I never physically cheated on either of my ex-wives and, believe me, more than enough male friends and colleagues of mine remarked that in my particular situation I would have been more than justified if I had.  But for as much as I might have, in the immortal words of Jimmy Carter, “lusted in my heart”, I simply couldn’t bring myself to actually seizing upon the few opportunities that presented themselves to me over those challenging years.

That’s clearly not the case with those who are in the inner orbit and family tree of Fat Orange Jesus, as evidenced by the flurry of tongue-wagging stories that have dropped into mainstream media consciousness in the past couple of days.  Take the case of the first seed from his loins that bears the honor/burden of having his name, as SHEKNOWS.COM’s Kristyn Burtt reported last week:

There have been rumors swirling on the internet that Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle ended their engagement, but the couple never made an official announcement. However, Donald Trump’s oldest son may have confirmed the news by stepping out with a new woman, socialite Bettina Anderson, 37.

Donald Jr. and Anderson were spotted cozying uptown together at a brunch on Aug 17 in Palm Beach – and it reportedly isn’t that big of a secret in the gossipy parts of town. “She seemed totally smitten with Don – and he with her,” an eyewitness told the Daily Mail. “They looked totally relaxed, she wearing a white shirt tied off to show her midriff and wide-leg pants, he in shorts and a t-shirt.” A second source added, “They were definitely on a date. They weren’t exactly making out, but the kisses were romantic, and you could tell they were intimate with each other.”

What makes the timing very curious is the fact that Donald Jr. was last seen with Guilfoyle on Aug. 18 for the MAGA Boat Parade in Palm Beach County – just one day apart. Anderson was also in attendance at a Trump family gathering that also occurred in August with even Donald Jr.’s ex-wife, Vanessa Trump, present. The Daily Mail noted, “The only person who seemed to be missing from the family affair was Kimberly Guilfoyle, 55, his fiancée of four years.”

At the very least, Burtt seems to have answered the burning question that first emerged in July at the Republican National Convention about the mysterious “woman in red”, as OK Magazine’s Stephanie Kaplan reminded in her contribution to breaking campaign-related news from Friday:

Though reports over Bettina Anderson kissing Donald Trump Jr. — who’s engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle — didn’t surface until mid-September, the socialite was sitting just one row behind the former first son at the Republican National Convention in July.  In photos from the July 8 event, Anderson can be seen wearing a strapless red dress while standing next to Trump Jr.’s ex-wife, Vanessa. According to an insider, the two women are good friends.

It’s easy to lay fault on Junior.  After all, he doesn’t exactly come from the most puritanical of upbringings.   But it should also be remembered that his apparently now ex-fiance was known around FOX News as one of its more “liberal” personalities, realities that came to light when then-CNN’s Oliver Darcy dropped this bombshell in October 2020:

Fox News paid the former assistant to ex-host Kimberly Guilfoyle upward of $4 million to avoid going to trial after the employee wrote a 2018 draft complaint detailing allegations of sexual harassment against her, The New Yorker reported Thursday, citing two well-informed sources.  In 2018, HuffPost reported that Guilfoyle’s departure had come following an investigation into inappropriate behavior, including allegations of sexual misconduct.  The New Yorker advanced the HuffPost story, detailing allegations from Guilfoyle’s former assistant. According to the magazine, Guilfoyle often required her former assistant to work at her apartment where allegedly Guilfoyle would sometimes be naked. The New Yorker added allegations that Guilfoyle showed her former assistant lewd images of men, with some of whom she had sexual relations.

You can connect your own dots, but if your mind even momentarily went to “throuple”, per folks I know who knew Guilfoyle at FOX, you might not be wrong.  What goes around–ahem, comes around.

But at least Donnie seems to have been getting some actual physical affection.  His hunting partner–and clearly it’s not just members of the animal kingdom–was back in the limelight this week himself, which VANITY FAIR’s  Eve Batey took the liberty of a leisurely Saturday to dish still more dirt on (and, once again, we can thank Darcy for his doggedness):

Even though he’s bowed out of the 2024 race for the White House, the headlines about Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. keep coming. The latest scandal involving whale-beheadingbear-dumpingTrump-endorsing RFK, Jr., is an allegedly inappropriate relationship with New York magazine’s Washington, D.C. correspondent Olivia Nuzzi, which has kept Kennedy in the news after the alleged sexual assailant ended his presidential campaign (though he remains on some state ballots, including Wisconsin‘s).

According to Status’s Oliver Darcy, New York magazine placed 31-year-old political reporter Nuzzi, 31, on leave after she “allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a reporting subject.” Though neither New York nor Nuzzi named that person, unnamed sources told Darcy—which the New York Times corroborated—that it was Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., whom Nuzzi profiled last November (prior to the reported beginning of the relationship). Nuzzi, who did not respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment, told Darcy via a statement that “earlier this year, the nature of some communication” she had with “a former reporting subject turned personal.”

You might ask who might have been among Darcy’s sources.  As THE WRAP’s Ross A. Lincoln reported yesterday, one  may very well have been RFK himself:

The secret relationship between New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was exposed because he frequently bragged about it to his friends, the Daily Beast reported Saturday.

The 71-year-old former independent presidential candidate reportedly boasted about the affair, and about nude photos Nuzzi, 31, sent to him, so widely that word reached NY Magazine editor-in-chief David Haskell.

In public statements and while speaking to Haskell, Nuzzi has insisted her relationship with Kennedy was never “physical.” Citing an individual close to Nuzzi, CNN reported that the affair “was emotional and digital in nature.” Puck News, citing another individual said to be close to Nuzzi, reported that she sent “demure nudes” to Kennedy.

Aye, there’s the rub–literally.  Debate all you choose whether emotional infidelity is actually worse than physical cheating.  But the bottom line is Nuzzi apparently had absolutely zero problem engaging in it herself.

Nuzzi’s journalistic career may be in limbo, but she certainly seems to have the credentials to be among the more successful OnlyFans personalities.  And one only wonders what kind of additional benefits her writing skills might bring to their efforts to broaden their audience.

Let’s also not forget the example we saw from a former First Lady this week, as the CNN duo of  and  collaboratively shared:

Former first lady Melania Trump posted a new video on social media Wednesday defending her previous nude modeling work as she promoted her new book.

“Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work? The more pressing question is: Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot?” she said in the video posted on X.

The former first lady added: “Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body? Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration.”

“We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self expression,” she said.

And I had not heard and read virtually the same exact words  from a one-time friend, I might have merely dismissed this as merely clickbait generated by her publisher.

This person still maintains an opportunistic “friendship” and partnership that allows her to be bi-coastal and live rent-free with someone who cheated on her while she was burying her mother.  Melania seems to be getting still more out of her situation.

Isn’t that true, Laura Loomer?

The fact that these are the women that are making headlines at the same time that we are seeing the second female candidate for the presidency attempt to make a stand for equality–and that enough mainstream media is willing to give them attention in the first place–just might explain in part why we’re still in a virtual deadlock in the race for the White House.   And may even explain why Fat Orange Jesus can actually get away with blustering something to the effect of “Everyone knows she put out” in front of 67 million viewers.

And who knows?  He actually might be accurate in that accusation–again, based upon what I have directly heard from one-time co-workers of hers in San Francisco law firms.  Incidentally, a couple of them knew Guilfoyle at the time as well, right around the time she snagged Gavin Newsom for a while.

Personally, I really don’t care who or how people indulge their fantasies or kinks in their private times.  I really don’t care how they define fidelity.  Remember, I’ve worked around Hollywood for decades.   Nothing I’ve read or seen in the last few days runs counter to behavior I’ve seen first-hand.  My one-time friend was hardly unique.

But an awful lot of people actually do care.  And I know a lot of them desperately want Kamala Harris to save democracy.

So here’s a suggestion.  Start calling out the women among you who are dragging your cause into the gutter of public discourse.  Call out the Bettina Andersons and Olivia Nuzzis.  And don’t necessarily start a victim’s fund for the likes of Kimberly Guilfoyle or Cheryl Hines.  They’ll be more than fine, trust me.

Until you’re capable and willing to admonish the enemies within, you leave yourselves open to exactly the kind of second-guessing and misjudgement that you believe men are exclusively guilty of.

Until next time…

  1. Really, Steve? Am I reading this correctly? You’re actually blaming the women in these extra-marital/relationship affairs? Do the men have no responsiblility? I must’ve missed something.

    • My dear friend, I am not blaming them exclusively. But it takes two to tango and to not call out the women who engage in such enabling behavior is self-defeating. I know we personally knew a few such examples in our travels. By no means are the men worthy of a mulligan. But they couldn’t have those affairs without a willing participant—and many of those women were otherwise involved too
